Weeki Wachee Mermaids return to aquarium

The world-famous sirens return March 1-4 and 8-11 to the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

KURE BEACH — Once was not enough for the Weeki Wachee Mermaids. The world-famous sirens return to the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher for a limited time March 1-4 and 8-11.

The specially trained underwater entertainers will enchant young and old by swimming, twirling and flipping alongside sharks, rays, eels and schooling fish. Visitors also will have the opportunity to meet a mermaid. Additional mermaid activities include a scavenger hunt, crafts, photo ops and autographs.

The Weeki Wachee Mermaids made their first appearance in the state at the aquarium in 2017. Due to their immense popularity, mermaid dive times and activities have been expanded for their upcoming visit.

A mermaid will swim once an hour, on the hour, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. Guests wishing to meet a mermaid on dry land may do so from 9 a.m.-4:45 p.m. daily.
