Please note that only the swimming area at Buc Bay is open daily.  The water slides, kiddie pool and lazy river run are open Saturday and Sunday's till June 8.  Beginning June 9, all activities at the water park will open daily for the summer.   Superkids Triathlon May 19 The 4th annual Superkids Triathlon, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, will be held at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park on Saturday, May 19, 2012.  The event is open to all Hernando County school students, ages 5-14.  The event includes swimming, cycling, running/walking.  There will be three age groups and ALL participants will receive an award. For more information about the Superkids Triathlon, please vist www.springhillkiwanis.org/super-kids-triathlon/ or pick up a registration form at your local school.   Former Mermaids Perform May 26, 27 & 28 This nostalgic show will take you back to the early years of Weeki Wachee Springs by the ladies who created the magic.  The former mermaid show includes performers representing the decades from the 40's to the 70's.  Don't miss this magical performance by this special group of ladies.  Show times are 12 & 2 p.m. Hurricane Expo 2012 June 2 The Hernando County Sheriff's Office Emergency Management team is pleased to announce the annual Hurricane & Safety Expo, Saturday, June 2, 2012, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.. There will be presentations, emergency vehicle displays, demonstrations, a K.I.D. Korner (Kids in Disaster), and a full compliment of vendors. A hurricane simulator will also be on hand.  Admission to the expo is free.  Regular daily admission applies for those wishing to visit Buccaneer Bay Water Park. * The River Boat Ride will not be operating this day. 65th Anniversary Mermaid Reunion July 13, 14 & 15   Since 1947, the mermaids of Weeki Wachee have been entertaining audiences from around the world.  This year marks the 65th anniversary of the famed attraction and we are honoring all the mermaids who have performed at the park since 1947 with a reunion on July 13, 14 & 15.  Special mermaid performances are planned with our current mermaids along with the former performing mermaids.  If you were a mermaid at Weeki Wachee and would like to join in the festivities, please click the 65th Mermaid Reunion link at the bottom of the menu for more information. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .     Vendor Agreement "Tail Mail" The World Famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids want to hear from you! In an effort to promote education, the mermaids are answering letters from all students under the age of 17. This will encourage literacy, and is a great way for your child to practice their best penmanship.  Have your child hand write a letter to their favorite mermaid (or Prince), asking anything about the environment they swim in or anything else mermaid related.  Each child will receive an autographed picture of their favorite mermaid. The mermaids will read each letter and the videoed response will get posted on our Facebook fan page, Twitter page and YouTube channel, so don't forget to click the icons on our web site and become a fan today to see the latest images and news coming from the park.  Feel free to have your child include any drawings they may want to include. Please do not choose more than one mermaid or Prince to write to.   Your child may already have a favorite mermaid or they can choose one from our web site by going under mermaids and clicking the mermaid roster. Just make sure to include:  1.
